School kid

Wow, things are busy right now, with building a house, work, the kids growing fast. It's hard to keep up with the blogging!

Charlotte has been accepted in to the local primary school right down the road from where we are building our new home. Great!

She starts next year and is very excited!

In other news, we introduced a 'tick chart' where CJ will get a 'tick' for eating her dinner and getting dressed on her own without anyone shouting at her.. it's working fairly well. She gets a little gift as a reward for doing so well.

I'm not sure if it's too early (she's only 3 and a half), but I've started to teach her to read, she has shown an interest so I figure why not. I asked her one night if she wanted me to point to the words as I read her book to her, she said yes, so... I guess she's keen!

Miss do-it-all

So last time I wrote about how Charlotte was toilet trained, back at the start of the year. It's now mid year (tsk tsk on my updates), she's very independent. Now dressing her self, and just recently gave up her dummy (pacifier)!

Now just to get her washing her own hair! hehehe.

Guess what, someone is toilet trained!

Melissa and I tried all kinds of things to get Charlotte toilet trained, in the end we just let her do her own thing and she eventually figured it all out. I think the best advice I could give would be to let them roam around half naked, with no nappy, they learn pretty quickly that wee get's them all wet!

She sometimes sleeps with a nappy, but generally doesn't wee until morning, clever clever.

I think daycare have played a big role in all of this. You see, some of CJ's friends at daycare progressed up to the next room, the bigger kids room, the Joey's room! Charlotte was told that she needs to learn to use the toilet like a big kid before they will let her move up. Cruel? Not sure, in any case, it's working. She'll be in the big kids room really soon!

What challenge is next? Probably dressing herself!
